Two students from Awbare High School who had just returned from their university enrollment were brutally shot dead by the Liyu Police at a place near Awbare district.
The bodies of the two students were picked up in a pick-up truck and identified by local residents. Residents of Awbare town have begun a protest against the senseless shooting of students in the town, as people gather in the center of the town where they burn car tires and big trees shouting “We are human.”
Residents of Awbare refused to bury the bodies of students shot dead by Liyu Police. No one from Awbare district or the Somali regional administration has yet commented on the incident.
