Addis Ababa July 1, 2013 – President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir, arrived in Addis Ababa Sunday afternoon to participate in the African International Summit for Combating Hunger which is scheduled to begin Monday and to last for two days.
President Al Bashir is due to present the Sudan situation before the summit which will also be addressed by the Ethiopian Prime Minister and Chairman of the African Union, Hailemariam Desalegn, Chairwoman of the African Union, Dr. Dlamini Zuma and the Director of FAO.
The summit will discuss a number of issues pertinent to food and combating poverty.
In addition to that Sudan will also present a paper on its role in realizing food security at the internal and continental levels and reflecting its potentialities in the fields of agriculture and livestock.
President Al Bashir will meet on the sidelines of the summit with a number of the presidents taking part in the summit.
The summit is expected to direct in its final communiqué a call for establishing an African insurance fund.
